Molasses Cookies

These Molasses Cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with warm spices. The rich flavor of molasses combined with the aromatic spices makes them a perfect treat for the holiday season or any time of the year.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions:

Put the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a large bowl and mix them together until they are light and fluffy

Add the egg and molasses to the mix and beat until everything is well mixed

In a different bowl, mix the baking soda, salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves with a whisk

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a smooth dough forms

Put the dough in the fridge for at least an hour with plastic wrap over it

Turn on your oven and heat it up to 375F 190C

Put parchment paper on the bottom of a baking sheet

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat them with the last 1/4 cup of granulated sugar

Don't crowd the baking sheet when you put the dough balls on it; leave some space between each one

After the oven is hot, bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set and slightly golden

After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way

You can enjoy these tasty Molasses Cookies with milk or your favorite hot drink
